OUR DISTINCTIVES
WE GATHER TO WORSHIP CHRIST
1. We Preach Scripture Boldly
Grace Hills Church is committed to the expository preaching of God’s Word. We believe Scripture is the inspired, inerrant, authoritative, clear, sufficient, and trustworthy Word of God. Therefore, we joyfully submit our pulpit under the authority of God’s unchanging Word.
We preach through books of the Bible seeking to teach from the whole counsel of Scripture. We are committed to letting Scripture determine the message, not our own opinions or cultural commentary. We desire God’s people to hear, learn, and grow in the whole counsel of God’s Word. We believe all of Scripture ultimately points to the character of God as revealed in Jesus Christ. The goal of preaching is not merely information but transformation and sanctification through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.
2 Tim. 3:16; Jn. 17:17; Isa. 40:8; Heb. 4:12
2. We Are a Warm and Welcoming Family
Grace Hills Church is not a place to attend but a family to belong to. We believe the church is the household of God, built together in Christ, and called to love one another as brothers and sisters. Therefore, we are a warm, welcoming, grace-filled, multi-generational family of singles, seniors, married couples, young adults, kids, etc.
We cultivate a culture where people are known (by name), loved, prayed for, and cared for. This includes practical, sacrificial care: praying with the grieving, providing meals, and dropping everything when necessary to visit those who are hospitalized, homebound, struggling, or suffering. We believe this ought to be the norm, not the exception, of a church family shaped by and committed to displaying the compassion of Christ.
Eph. 2:19-22; Jn. 13:34-45; Matt. 25:36; Col. 3:12-14; 1 Jn. 4:11-12; Heb. 10:24-25
3. We Sing Truth
We are committed to musical worship that is biblically grounded, theologically rich, and Christ exalting. The songs we sing powerfully shape what we believe, and therefore every song must be anchored in the truths of God’s Word and character. We intentionally choose songs — from historic hymns to modern worship — that proclaim biblical truth with clarity and without compromise.
Our worship is aimed at encouraging congregational participation. The worship service is not a show or entertainment experience geared towards emotional manipulation or spectacle. Our aim is to lead our people in congregational singing by pursuing simplicity and undistracted excellence. We believe corporate, multi-generational singing in one, united service is a sacred gift and a powerful testimony to the unifying power of the Gospel.

WE GROW TO BECOME MORE LIKE CHRIST
4. We Grow in Circles, Not Just Rows
We believe that discipleship happens best in small circles, not just in rows on Sunday. While the Sunday gathering is essential for corporate worship and hearing the preaching of the Word, the Christian life was never meant to be lived in anonymity.
LIFE Groups are the primary environment where those at Grace Hills are known, discipled, and cared for in a small-group setting. Our LIFE groups exist to help people truly live “LIFE” together:
L earn more about God’s Word together (in a sermon-based study)
I nteract on questions of faith together
F ind friends who help and serve together
E nter into prayer together
We believe spiritual growth is most sustainable and lasting when it is relational, intentional, and consistent. Our aim is that every person at Grace Hills would be connected to a group where they can grow spiritually, be known and cared for individually, and encouraged to live on mission in their relational world.
Heb. 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47; Eph. 5:1-2; Matt. 18:20
5. We Pursue One-On-One Discipleship
We are committed to being a church where every generation can worship, grow, and serve together, reflecting the diversity and unity of Christ’s body. Scripture commands older believers to teach, encourage, and model godliness for the younger, and for younger believers to learn with humility, honor, and eagerness. We believe discipleship is strongest when generations are connected, not fully separated or siloed.
We believe every generation brings unique gifts, perspectives, and necessary wisdom to the life of the church. As part of this conviction, we invest in a structured pathway for Gospel-fluency, accountability, and spiritual growth. Through this, we strengthen and develop a leadership pipeline, raising up future leaders who are shaped through mentoring, hands-on ministry training, and intentional investment from older, mature believers.
We desire Grace Hills to be a church where the senior saints in the faith know the names of the children, where young families are supported by older couples, and where every believer has people ahead of them to learn from, and people behind them to invest in. We aim to be a church that displays the countercultural beauty of Christ’s multi-generational family, united in one mission, one Spirit, and one Savior.
Titus 2:1–8; Ps. 145:4; 1 Thess. 2:7–12; 2 Tim. 2:1-2
6. We Partner with Families in Raising the Next Generation for Christ
Grace Hills Church is committed to raising up the next generation to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. While parents are the primary disciplers of their children, the church’s role is to equip, encourage, and walk alongside them in that calling. Through intentional partnership between families, Grace Kids, and Grace Youth, we seek to build a strong foundation of faith that endures for a lifetime.
In our Kids Ministry, we envision planting the seeds of faith that will grow deep and strong. We aim to create an environment where children grow together in community, rooted in God’s Word and supported by the family of faith around them. In our Student Ministry, the heartbeat is “faith, fun, and fellowship”. We want every student to grow in their faith, to find joy in following Jesus, and to experience genuine fellowship with peers and leaders who encourage them in their faith.
We intentionally create opportunities for kids, students, and young adults to worship alongside adults, serve on ministry teams, and build relationships with older believers who can model and mentor them in Christlikeness.
Deut. 6:4-8; Prov. 27:17; Eph. 6:1-4; Ps. 78:4-7
7. We Serve One Another Selflessly
We desire that every member of Grace Hills Church would be committed to joyfully serve. We encourage believers to use their gifts in various ministries and teams (e.g. worship & tech, hospitality & greeting, children’s, youth, men’s women’s, facilities, etc.). Every act of service matters, serves the body, and strengthens the church.
We believe this kind of selfless service within the local church is a vital part of discipleship. As believers use their gifts to bless the body, they grow in humility, deepen their love for the church, and reflect the servant-hearted character of Christ. We aim to be a community marked by humility, generosity, and Christlike service, displaying the love of Jesus in tangible ways.
Rom. 12:4–8; Mark 10:45; 1 Pet. 4:10; Eph. 4:11–16; Col. 3:23–24
8. We Pray Corporately & Continually
Grace Hills Church is committed to being a body of believers who pray together corporately, not merely individuals who pray on their own. Corporate prayer is not a formality or transition in our services, but the lifeline of our church and the expression of our dependence on God in all things.
In our Sunday services, we regularly pray together (out loud) for the needs of our people, the sufferings in our world, and the missionaries we support. We believe that when the church gathers, we should boldly bring our requests before the throne of grace as an act of worship.
Prayer shapes the rhythms of every ministry at Grace Hills from weekly LIFE groups, men’s and women’s ministries, and care ministries. Prayer also saturates the leadership culture of Grace Hills Church. Our elders and staff pray for the congregation by name, pray for the needs of the church, and seek God’s direction as they lead the church.

WE GO TO REACH OTHERS FOR CHRIST
9. We Live On Mission in Everyday Relationships (Oikos)
We believe that every believer ought to live as a minister of the Gospel and a missionary in the everyday places God has placed them. This means our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, friendships, and families are not random, but God-appointed mission fields.
We believe evangelism is not primarily an event or program but the natural overflow of gospel-shaped relationships in our everyday lives. God has given each of us an oikos — a circle of influence made up of the people we see regularly and interact with consistently. These are the people God has entrusted to us: coworkers, classmates, teammates, neighbors, friends, family members, baristas, gym partners, and more.
Living on mission in these relationships is first centered on prayer. We ought to be talking to God about people, before talking to people about God. We believe opportunities for Gospel conversations grow in the soil of ordinary faithfulness — hospitality, kindness, prayerfulness, integrity, and initiating conversations about faith and Christ. We aim to cultivate a culture where believers pray for their oikos by name, look for open doors, and boldly share the hope of the gospel with those around them.
2 Cor. 5:20; Matt. 5:14–16; Col. 4:5–6; 1 Pet. 3:15; Matt. 28:18–20
10. We Keep Ministry Simple
Grace Hills Church is committed to keeping ministry simple. We believe our church thrives not through a crowded calendar or constant activity, but through focused, targeted ministries that help more people become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We recognize the importance of stewarding our time, energy, and resources wisely. We would rather do a few things well than attempt to do many things poorly or unsustainably.
Matt. 11:28–30; John 15:4–5; Eph. 5:15–16; Matt. 6:33-34; Acts 20:24
11. We Support Local & Global Missions
Grace Hills Church is not a clubhouse for saints, but a lighthouse for the lost. We are unwaveringly committed to global missions through prayer, giving, sending, and going. We believe our church in Aliso Viejo has been uniquely entrusted with a global impact far beyond our size. Our church currently partners with missionaries and ministries around the world. We believe our prayers, our giving, and our support are helping to advance the gospel across continents.
We seek to not just support our missions partners financially but personally and through prayer as a congregation. We desire to be a church that brings to light the work God is doing around the world, celebrates His faithfulness, and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with those who labor for the gospel.
Matt. 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Rom. 10:13–15
